No one knows when or where the island was first created and the creatures were first dropped onto it. It's been like this for a thousand years, as is known. There are no secret records, no hidden hints to the truth. Nothing. No guides. Just special members of the island chosen to lead the packs and herds. There's not explanation as to why they have to have specific members chosen, they just do.
There's two leaders, a pair in gender but not in species, that essentially guard the island. They are Ambriel, the leader of the horses, and (to be determined) the leader of the wolves. They are guardians and warriors, leaders and lovers. They have been chosen to bring the island to a new light, that's what the previous leaders said when they stepped down and went to the misting falls to give their spirits back to the land.
All that we know right now is that something is going to happen. Something dark, something dangerous, something that is going to leave the island scared forever. . .
